I thought I had sent in my occupation, such as
it is, but I cannot find anything I might have written in my "Sent Items"
file.
Aside from being a homemaker, my official
recognized occupation, according to the Internal Revenue Service, is Cattle
Breeder. Keeping records for our small herd (60 mother cows) takes a
certain amount of organization, credit for which I must give the Excel
spreadsheet program. If I keep entering all data in a timely fashion,
submitting nicely printed records for our tax preparer is quite simple come tax
time.
I also have become fairly handy at loading hay,
feeding cows, doctoring cows, vaccinating, tattooing and ear-tagging calves, and
have been known to help the occasional cow deliver her calf. I've become
the family veterinarian for all the cows, calves and horses, or at least a
diagnostician. My occupation doesn't make much money, however. It's
all dependent on the going price of calves each late June or early
July.
