Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] camping and generators Don't be haters - Truman PrevattThere is a big problem with "cheap" deep cycle batteries and endurance riding is mechanical failure. Most deep cycle batteries fail because of mechanical breakdown of the batteries, that is they get vibrated to death as we drive over bumpy roads, 10 miles back a dirt road to ride camp, etc. I ate up the set of deep cycle batteries banging them around on the Shore to Shore that came stock on my new Sundowner. With the cheap deep cycle batteries you buy at Wal Mart, Napa, etc., the plates are not sufficiently separated and will short out because of the vibration. We do have an option that we should use unless we want to replace out batteries every year - which is what I did for a long time. There are batteries - which are similar to dry cell batteries which are made by Optima or Lifeline made by concord (designed for the military) are are designed to withstand the mechanical stress we put on them. They are more expensive but they last 4 times longer and perform much better.
