RE: [RC] fence question - Betty EdgarI'd suggest checking into Safe-Fence and comparing it with Horse Guard Fence. They're comparable products but I believe Safe-Fence is a bit stronger and it is guaranteed for 20 years. Mine has been installed for 16 years and has seen several collisions with horses. The horse always won and walked away unscathed but the fence held up altho occasionally a strand or two was pulled free of the gate post connector and had to be threaded back thru. I haven't done a cost comparison between the two. Basically they look alike, same width, colors, etc., and the connectors, insulators and tape are interchangeable. You can see Safe-Fence at www.safefence.com The worst (potentially) accident I've had with the Safe-Fence was when a shod horse got the lower strand of tape caught between a hoof and the shoe and ran with that strand popping off all the plastic insulators and then pulling the strand out of the gate post until he had pulled the whole length of it out of his hoof/shoe. No damage was done to the foot, shoe or any part of the horse but I'm sure he wasn't having much fun while connected with the hot fence, poor guy. It was quick easy work to screw on replacement insulators and thread the tape back thru the gate post.
