Re: [RC] Fwd: AERC Convention in San Antonio - Sky Ranch

Thanks for the info -- and if anyone is looking for Sequin on the Texas map
... it's really Seguin. <grins> And yes, D&D is a HUGE store. Last time I
was there was a long time ago; it was mostly western stuff, though. Maybe
they've branched out into more "english" tack, now? Sure would be great if
they had endurance saddles, etc.!

I'm looking forward to having a booth at the AERC convention. I thought I
might mention a few things to do in my home town of Boerne that is just
1/2
hour northwest of San Antonio if you have the time (and a car).

Boerne is an art town, so you'll find quite a few galleries: the Carriage
House Gallery, www.thecarriagehousegallery.com (ok, I'm one of the artist
and owners too) the Highland House Gallery, and the Garden Path Gallery.
All
of these are just off Main Street and have several paintings and
sculptures
of horses. If you are in the mood to see an old west town, visit
Enchanted
Springs Ranch www.enchantedspringsranch.com (ok, I ride my horse there
some
weekends and play cowgirl) And for a little farming history, visit the
Agricultural Heritage Museum www.agmuseum.org (ok, I am the president
of
the organization). But enough about me.

Where is a good place to eat in Boerne? My favorite spot in the world is
the
Dodging Duck Brewhaus. You have to really like good hand crafted beer
though
to enjoy it. They have tables outside by the river, or sit up at the bar
and
meet some new friends. www.dodgingduck.com The food is very refreshing -
I
like the Heart of Boerne Salad. A new restaurant that is also great is
The
Creek. For Mexican, try El Chaparral. If you like antiques, you can't
beet
all of the shops Boerne has to offer. If you like fancy clothes, you'll
love
shopping at the many boutiques. www.boerne.org

Best horse store in the area? Come on now, I know who I'm talking to,
you
don't care about the fancy boutiques, you want tack. Check out D & D in
Sequin, about 1/2 hour East on I-10. It is the biggest horse store you
can
imagine.

If you've never been to San Antonio, you're in for a treat. The weather
has
been beautiful all winter. Today was about 77 and sunny. It is uncommonly
warm for this time of year, but I am enjoying it. The river walk will
amaze
you - a bit touristy, but unforgettable. If you are leaving the snow
behind,
congratulations. Stop in and say hi at my booth while you are there.
