[RC] Bone spurs - Barbara March

I would appreciate anyone's experience/ opinion on a lameness issue. I
have been
conditioning my 14.3 9yr-old Arab gelding for 2 years for 50 milers. So
far
we've done 5 LD's with one pull and four completions. But all last
season I was dealing with
stumbling, toe jabbing into the ground. Finally went to a good leg vet
and had digital x-rays done which revealed among other things, bone
spurs on P1 on both front legs. He also has offset coffin bones and side

bone but the vet did nerve blocks and said the stumbling and subsequent
lameness we saw (especially on the right front) is from the bone spurs.
Now he's been barefoot for nearly 3 months. Is no longer stumbling but
has varying degrees of heat in his right front pastern joint and is sore
on the right front.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there any way
I can make this horse comfortable so I can continue to use him for
endurance? Or look for a new horse?

Thanks,
Barbara
