Re: [RC] re: trailer loading/unloading - Barbara McCrary
Our one horse that refuses to load into a 2-horse
straight load will cheerfully hop into a big livestock trailer and tie to the
side rail. So, for him, it's not the stepping up, but the
claustrophobia.
I've been using my front porch to teach youngsters to load and unload.
I've found the hardest thing for them to get over is not the dark box they
are going in, but the stepping up and stepping down.
So we work on stepping up on my front porch which has two steps and a
deck and then we back down it. They end up thinking this is quite fun cause
the humans in the house come out and make a big fuss over them and give them
carrots, LOL.
When I ask them to step up into the trailer or back out and step down,
it's not a big deal.
