Re: [RC] [RC] Trailer loading - Debbie Kirchner

O just thought of something else I did with a mare who did not like to say in, my horses are use to the carrot stick as being part of my body, I tap them on the butt, or I pat them on the butt, or anywhere on them, it is not a big deal, same as my hand, so if you have that relationship with your horse, you could do what I did, I put her in then when I walked back, she went with me, I thought that was interesting, she was staying with me... so I just worked with her staying where I put her as I walked back, first outside the trailer, I suspect I used a fence or something, then inside the trailer... so it was then understood that she stay in the trailer, as I could tap her on the butt to send her back in... it is so hard to type out what I have done that works, it really depends on the horse and the relationship you have with that horse... this is just what worked for me... I was told she would never go on a two horse trailer, she always did, but it was tall enough for her and wide enough for her, at that time, I had a GN slant load too.. now I just have the slant load... she never had trouble on a slant load.. just the two horse run around trailer...

interesting how they know the difference though between doing somewhere and not going somewhere, maybe you should always take her around the block when you load her..
