[RC] trailer loading - NancyLyric hated to load when we got her We did lunging, patient tapping, butt rope-everything to no avail. Lyric is a bit stubborn sometimes! I finally took the dividers out of the straight trailer and then made a corral around it. Lyric stayed 3 weeks in that set up. First we put her food in one manger, then the other one. Next we put the divider in but had it tied to one side. Then reversed it. Then the divider was placed in the normal position with food in one side, then the other. Once she would eat quietly for long periods I then started to load her. I have to say the first few days were funny to watch her try to get her food and not stay in the trailer. She would look to see if we were watching her before she would slink in the trailer grab a bit and run out. Lyric needed a butt rope for a while after that. She got so she would not load unless we got the rope out and set it up. If we tried to load her with out the rope she would refuse to load. She was working us as all we had to do was touch her with the rope and she would load. This stage lasted about 4 months. Now Lyric almost self loads and has no issues with loading or trailering. Hope this helps.
