Re: [RC] Pilot Error - Joe LongEgad, something else we have in common. I also survived a helicopter crash, although not as bad a one as you had. I'd hired a helicopter to take some aerial photographs for a car rally I was managing. We took off from an airport, but during the flight I asked him if he could put us down in clearing below (in the mountains). He said "sure, no problem." But the ground was sloping, and the winds choppy -- first he misjudged his altitude, then a wind shift killed his lift while we were still too high off the ground. The chopper dropped like a stone. Luckily, we both walked away from it. Let's see, so far I've survived that, a crash in a backwoods car race where the car rolled off the road and hit two trees, a hang glider, and a bad fall from a horse sprinting full-speed to a finish line (that was the only one that put me in the hospital). I must have a good guardian angel.
