Re: [RC] Who is thinking of doing their first hundred in 2007? - rides2far@xxxxxxxxStart talking to other riders about "going for it." You'll find inspiration, ideas, caveats and advice. Endurance riders are notorious for being willing to share. Pick a ride! I'll just throw out here that I recommend the Biltmore 100. I know some think it's tough but it has a lot going for it. I like it being on private property so there's not a problem with markers being tampered with or worrying about who'll you'll run into after dark. They have tons of good vets. There as lots of people in the 100 so very little chance you'll get left alone when riding buddies get pulled. They hang lots of glow sticks. You do the last 10 miles before & after dark so the horse knows the trail. I think there's good variety of terrain. I walk all the steep hills and still tend to finish at a decent time. If all goes well I plan to do my horse's first 100 there this spring.
