very very unstaged (the man sleeping with his horse, not the three hunks!). The horse, Hannibal, has been lying down with Richard for four years, ever since he was a foal. If Richard gets up first, Hannibal goes and rolls where he was lying. It might look appealing but the horse neither knows nor has any respect for normal boundaries (I know, I know, our fault) and one has to warn everyone not to leave the door of the house open etc. The charm wears off, believe me.....
Steph said that she wanted to post that on the site. That was a week of work here with a New York photographer and a bunch of Egyptian bodybuilders just back from a competition in Prague. To make that endurance related, two of the horses, the bay and the chestnut placed second in a team LD here last spring. They just do the rides for fun and have to work for a living the rest of the time. I guess they must have changed the photo because when I went to look, it was someone riding in the Argentine national championships.

I bet THAT subject line got your attention...he he. Anyway, that pic on endurance net's main page is SO cool (the guy, horse and dog napping on the grass together). Unless it was totally staged, it's an example of the kind of partnership with a horse that most people can only dream about!
