There are several videos on Youtube very clearly showing 4 young women 
on their horses leading the stranded animals off their mound.  I don't 
think anyone meant to imply that these woment did the job all by 
themselves, but they and their horses were clearly what inspired the 
horses to leave their island and cross to safety.  If you understand 
Dutch, there is one from a local TV station.
