RE: [RC] Scoliosis - Karen StandeferFinding a good sports medicine Dr (one that really understands the biomechanics of the soft tissue in the body) will do wonders for helping to work through these issues. I too have scoliosis (diagnosed as a teenager). In addition I've had some pretty severe injury to my back over the past 15 years (several broken vertebrae). My Sports Medicine Dr was able to diagnose exactly what of my musculoskeletal was imbalanced and then set up a program to help me get it in balance. It's a never ending program because if you stop, the muscles start to draw up again (and then pull on the tendons and cause pain). But, as long as I stick with it which involves strengthening the "core" (abdominals, hips, etc), then I can stay pretty balanced and pain free. In addition, I have found that the FreeForm saddle (which allows one to change the position of the stirrups) is a HUGE benefit because I can move the stirrups slightly longer on one side of my body to accommodate the imbalance and keep myself better balanced during the portion of a longer ride when I am fatigued at which time it becomes more difficult to stay balanced. Just my $.02 from experiences on the subject. Karen -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
