Re: [RC] Truck campers - M Paul LatiolaisNIkki,I have been using an old 8 ft Pilgrim for about 5 years now. My first truck was too light to really be safe hauling it, endangering me and other motorists. It's the brakes that are the problem with a heavy camper and horse-trailer. I traded down to an older, but heavier truck and am much happier and safer. In short, don't use a half-ton. Also, trucktop campers are a bit cramped for two, as Becky said, but do-able. If you plan to share the main bed, make sure you get a camper that has a bed alignment of front-to-back, as opposed to side-to-side. Otherwise, someone is stuck in a corner and has to climb over to get in or out. -Paul On Oct 5, 2006, at 8:44 AM, Nikki McCormack wrote: I would love to hear from people using truck campers for endurance. I would like to know how they worked, what size they used, and brands people recommend. I have a two horse diagonal with tack room. Anything larger would be hard to park on my property (hard to explain, but true). So I am trying to find a way to get away from tent camping without having to buy a larger, living quarters trailer. Health problems have kept me from riding this year, but I am hoping to have something worked out before next ride season. It is my goal to his as many rides as we can next year. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
