Karen, those pictures could be of my gelding, they are so close!  I don't
have the problem of his cracking and chipping (of course he is trimmed at
least every 5 weeks) because his feet are HARD, every farrier that has ever
worked on him has commented on how hard his feet are, you can ride that
horse anywhere through anything.  Most of your post sounds like you are
describing my horse, the changing angles, higher maintenance etc.  And I
have to agree.. if I had to choose this horse for distance riding I wouldn't
have done so.. but I already owned him so he'll have to do.  lol  Seriously,
he loves going down the trail, and the faster the better, and he is hard to
convince that *I* know better than he does how fast we need to go.  He'll
grow up someday though (I HOPE!!) and in the meantime I have a lot of fun
with him.
