At Convention, one of the reps for Woolbak said the biggest mistake people make is not washing their pads enough and that the build up of dried sweat from the horse is more damaging to the pad than hand washing in Woolite when the pad begins to get the proverbial "life of its own". I got this off the EquiPedic website: How do you wash the EquiPedic? saddle pad? Simply remove the ConforPedic Impact Reduction Material? inserts from their pockets and drop the pad in your home washing machine. Wash with cold water on gentle cycle, tumble dry at the lowest setting, and your pad is as clean as it was when new! If you want to wash the ConforPedic? inserts, simply soak them in a 10% vinegar and water solution and allow them to air dry. If the wool on yours is really hard, try soaking in a Woolite solution over night and if still stiff, leave another 24 hours and then wash as directed above. I hope this helps.
