I don't know about Nutrena Compete, but their Legacy doesn't seem to have too much molasses, it's based more with corn oil. The Nutrena guy I had talked to when I was considered the feed said there's only enough molasses to act as a preservative. I don't know the percentage though. I do know that I've not experienced the 'hot' horse. Even the tough keepers that get a lot of it aren't any tougher to ride. I've been feeding Legacy for years. ((No, I don't sell it, I just like the feed.)) It has worked well for a variety of horses/mules including pleasure horses that just do an occasional trail ride.
