Subject: Re: [RC] nutrena compete - Dream WeaverI never did find out what percentage of molasses that Nutrena Complete has in it. Here is the chart with the info I do have:http://members.tripod.com/ridephotos/molasses.html If I don't know how much molasses is in something I won't feed it between rides at home, or before a ride. I'm very careful with that. Some horses can react to it more than others. I use a complete feed that Manna Pro makes that is only 1 to 2% molasses. During a ride I'll let them eat things like Omolene that has 10% molasses. I've had friends who thought they had overly difficult to control or hot-wired horses when all it was is they were feeding something pre-ride like Complete Advantage that has 20% molasses. Some people mistakingly believe that since it is a complete feed and has beet pulp in it that it is okay to feed in large quantities. That is another thing to consider when feeding as well -- a cup of something with high molasses probably won't have the same effect as a feed that has less molasses but is fed at the rate of 6 to 10 pounds.
