Re: [RC] cruppers - rides2far@xxxxxxxx- Warning no. 2: the crupper should be snug enough that it doesn't wiggle/jiggle around as the horse moves, I disagree on this one. May be different with different brands but the OF becomes a big loop that just lays over to the side with no tension on it and doesn't really touch the sensitive areas. Constant tension would definitely cause more chafing in my opinion...not to mention, it doesn't give the horse room to tuck his butt as he heads down hill. I want it snug once he's fully tucked. -Warning no. 4: lunge your horse for a few minutes, fully tacked, before you get on. He/she will let you know how the crupper feels at that moment in time. Could save you down time from an injury. I never lunge a horse that hasn't been warmed up already...such a great way to have one tie up. Honestly folks, we've used cruppers on about 10 different horses and I've yet to have one even care. Gunner started wearing one in Feb. when I got him. Look boy, new tack. Sigh. He never even switched his tail. Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
