[RC] stifle measurement - Karen Sullivan

I am curious about what folks think of using the stifle as sort of a general measurement to mature height of horse?

I have tried elbow measurements, and knee measurements....and the middle of knee to ground indicates I should have
18h horses! I just can't seem to find the exact middle of the knee on all horses.

But there is a dip or dimple at the stifle that I can find pretty accurately. Now, hind legs and hocks have different angles, but my horses are fairly consistent angles and I am comparing them against each other.....

Reason I am doing this is to attempt to guess mature size on 17 month mustang filly.  Here are some measurements on mature horses.

16h ARab/Walker age 4 gelding measures 39" to ground from top edge of "stifle dimple"
15.1 Arab age 15 measures 37"
15.2 mustang mare age 6 measures 38"

the filly sticks at 14.2 at age17mos....and her stifle to ground is also about 38"....is it reasonable to predict she may his
15.2??

Thanks, Karen
