[RC] TWHs in endurance/.. for sale and a trailer.... - Melody WongMy neighbor (who has diabetes and is now in a wheelchair) is selling her two spotted TWH. 8 year old gelding - she says is gentle enough for kids, and a 6 year old mare. The gelding only has one eye (don't remember why) and the mare is a good candidate for endurance. The mare is "arab typey" and the gelding has more of an "andulusian" look. They are both at least 15+ hands (she says they are 16+ hands). Contact me if you are serious and I will get pics. $8,000 for gelding and $6,000 for mare..... OBO on both. She also has a brand new Classic, 2H, slant, Westerner trailer. she bought it to have for emergencies. Never been used. I think it is a 2004. She is asking $11,000. Most likely would make a deal on the whole lot. They are completely focused on the shows. Has anyone done this research? I would appreciate any information about TWH that have excellent endurance records (mileage not wins).< Hi E, I don't know about a study -- but we have two currently competing Walkers (one actually a Spotted Saddle Horse of TWH breeding) who love this sport. Bubba G just completed all five days of Bryce Canyon XP for a little over 1,200 miles in less than ten months. He is 15.2 with nine-inch cannons and a relatively light torso. My mare Sports Infatuated Gypsy has 635 lifetime miles after starting her endurance career last year at the age of ten. She is the smartest, most sure-footed horse I've ever ridden. Gypsy and Bubba share the stallion Ebony Masterpiece in the third generation, both on the mare's side. There are lots of "Go Boy" and "Midnight" horses but I'll bet they appear in lots of gaited horse pedigrees. I think the key is to look for a horse with good bone structure, well shaped feet, a good back and clean way of going. Both of ours have a tremendous work ethic and I think that's a virtue of the breed. Hope this info is helpful.
