[RC] easyboot bares part 2 - lisa oberteuffer

thanks for everyone who responded to my little rant so quickly!!

I went back out--armed with a rubber mallet--and tried them again. this time I got rid of the nylon straps, as per everyone's advice.

I did loosen one bungee up to see if that would help. I just readjusted the screw on one side to the loosest position. it helped, but only a little, and I got the other three on without doing anything to them. the mallet definitely helped!

they still look a little funny to me, because I am so used to the old (red!) easyboots, and the gaiter makes it a little hard to visualize where the horse's hoof is, exactly. of course, the gaiters is why I switched to these, though ...

anyway, I jumped on and we took a short amble around the fields, maybe a half mile, and everything seems OK. he trotted up the rocky hill without a flinch, and when I pulled the boots off afterwards, I can see the line where the top of the heel strap is contacting his hoof--well below the bulb, but high enough so that I don't think he's standing on the bottom edge of the strap.

I think I just need to go out and go for a 5 miler and see how they do--and be prepared to pull them off if he seems ouchy in the middle of the ride.

thanks again everyone!!
