RE: [RC] #66? 4-beat Galloping In! No Hands on Reins!--saddle? - Chris Paus

I've seen those spanish saddles before, at least in pictures. Like Aussie saddles, some have horns and others don't. They really are just a lot of padding, I think, more along the lines of a treeless.

Here's my mare with her similar saddle, no horn.

and what they look like without all the trail stuff on them.

I've tried Bob Marshall and several other treeless saddles and just hated them. With my round horses they just rolled and with round me, I felt very unstable on them.

This is the most secure ride I've ever had. you know the Hillsdale trails Susan. I don't use a breast collar or crupper and the saddle never moves going up and down those hills.

That's a strange saddle...in that I've never seen one quite like it.  The horn is like a barrel racing saddle but there are thigh blocks.  I guess the colors and materials are a saddle pad and saddle cover?  Looks comfortable whatever it is.

To me, a horn doesn't mean the horse is a spooker.  Any horse will spook and a horn won't save you from an Arab's spook!  On the contrary, the horn will hook into your bra (Bruce...!) or your rib cage and do some serious damage.
