I have been hearing it for over 25 of those years and have yet to see it materialize. The AERC has done many questionnaires and, as always, the results come out that belie such a belief. While it is a very good thing to have our juniors participating, it is not a very good thing to expect the future of the AERC to hinge on these riders. Yes, there are a few that can be noted as moving up through the ranks, so to speak, but the future of endurance riding based in the junior program? Sadly it does not hold up. Bob Morris Bob, it's become a kind of "Urban Legend" (or in this case, "Rural Legend?"). Even though our research has shown that most people begin distance riding in their 30's or 40's, and only a small percentage of adult distance riders started as Juniors. I think the Junior program is wonderful, and I love to sponsor Juniors -- but they are not "the future of our sport." If that was true we would be in DEEP trouble. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.chiprider.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
