Re: [RC] 100s discussion - Diane TrefethenHi Kathy,I'm not Jody but if you do an "easy" 25 mile weekend ride, whether it is an LD or just a conditioning ride, you do not need to interrupt your regular conditioning schedule. By "easy" I mean your horse completes the ride showing about as much distress as a Western Pleasure horse joggin' around an arena. Not that he might not have sweated up some, just that he's obviously not anywhere near the end of his gas tank. If the 25 miles was a bit of a stretch, you can skip the next conditioning ride and then resume. Once you get to those "easy" 20-25 mile weekend rides, you want to hold to that except for the week after you do a 50. So, how about for a horse that you’re trying to bring around to being ready for a 50? If you do a 25 or 30 one week to test their fitness level, would you think they’d need a week off after that, or would it boost their level of fitness to only wait 2 or 3 days to go out again?
