[RC] Race of Champions? Heidi's Definition - Don HustonAt 11:08 AM 7/29/2006 Saturday, you wrote:I love a winner as much as the next guy--but a one-race winner to many of us is not a champion. To be a real champion in this sport, a horse and rider need to persevere ("endure" if you will--what a concept!) for MANY miles, and still come home able to go again. THAT is what the AERC used to be about--and that is one reason that it has lost its luster for many of us. Very well put. Those were the exact words bouncing around in my head but they were not arranged nearly as well. Thanks, and I agree. I also think that multi-day rides are bringing back the luster for me because they are a much better test of endurance riding the same horse over several days.
