Re: [RC] hydrogen boost for improving fuel economy 50%? - Sisu West Ranch"...NPR had a good presentation on the state of hydrogen technology a few days ago. It turns out if you track the energy it will take more energy from oil ..." Now the whole future of hydrogen economy is an interesting and completely different subject from the original question. Original question related to an electrolysis unit you put on your truck engine. The hydrogen and oxygen produced were put into the intake manifold and this addition of gasses was claimed to increase the efficiency of combustion lowering smog, and increasing fuel economy etc. I still don't buy a net gain for that. My personal feeling is that a hydrogen economy only makes sense if we decide that nuclear power now is safer than using up all fossel fuels first and then going nuclear. Good article in Sci. Am last month.
