I'm quite far from an expert but I say ride her and
pay attention. She'll tell you if its too much. Just use common sense and build
into the longer distances. Arabs are amazingly tough horses with great weight
carrying abilities. Oh and 170 isn't too bad, if I was braver I'd tell you how
much my guy carries around and he can canter through ld's and come out looking
great.
Ok, I'm a newbie here, I've never even rode 10 miles in one day lol let
alone 50. I have been riding jumpers and dressage for the past 10 years
and want to know what size horse should I have? I just bought a 14.3
arab mare and I'm afraid she's too small. I'm 5'4 and 170lbs.
Naturally all of my english friends think she's WAY too small for me and that
I'm too heavy for her (which by the way I have started working out and am
working on shrinking, 6lbs gone, 36 more to go lol). I ride in a
synthetic thorowgood endurance saddle that weighs less than 13lbs. She
is a petite little thing, but I love the way she rides, and her quirky,
spooky, grumpy personality.
