Re: [RC] Run-in Sheds - rides2farWe are considering 32 ft. long and 16 ft. deep with a heighth of 8 ft. I have a shed overhang on back of my barn, and the barn was open on one end to begin with so it's sort of an "L" shaped shed area. It's about 30' long, 10' deep half way across and 20' deep on the other end. I have 3 horses, but only TWO are allowed *by them* to stand under the shed. The #2 in the pecking order jealously guards the whole thing and makes #3 stand out in the sun unless I bring him into a stall which I do. Yep, there's plenty of room for their bodies...but not their egos! I think the depth is really important so that they can get away from the slanting rays of the sun. But if the shelter's 3 sided that depth is sort of a death trap if an agressive horse gets them cornered. I think *my* 3 sides would be, solid wall on the North, open on the South, solid wall right down the middle with a side facing East & west, really making a shed devided in 2. That way if it's the sun they're trying to escape they can stand on the west side of the divider in the morning and the East end in the evening. If it's raining and the dominent horses hog their side maybe the submissives could get in the other side.
