RE: [RC] [RC] trailer shavings and stock trailers - Sharon Levasseur

There's NOTHING wrong with a good safe stock trailer. :-) Sometimes I think
they're better for the horse, given the increased airflow!

The first few times I hauled my horse in my stock trailer, I let him ride loose
so he could show me his preferred way to stand. He chose to face backwards
with his head usually in the right-hand corner... so now I tie him in that
position. I probably could get away with leaving him untied but I feel like I
should tie him so he can't make drastic changes in position while I'm trying to
drive.

Was that your question?

"A stock trailer is probably the most likely to stir things up."

I just have a stock trailer for my horses - as I'm just beginning this whole
endurance thing I don't really have the money for another trailer just now,
although I do drool over the Featherlite catalog!! I've never hauled more
than about 250 miles, and I was picking up my first mustang so I couldn't
put boots or a mask on her. I had large shavings and a little straw on the
floor. I now have rubber mats. What is the best way to haul a horse in a
stock trailer? My trailer is a 4-horse, only 2 years old, with a high
ceiling. Is it okay to use this trailer?
Thanks,
Jen
