[RC] shoeing/Xrays - Barb Peck

I guess I'd say, that the farrier should be comfortable and experienced
enough looking at Xrays so that if there's a correction that has to be made,
he's knowledgable enough
to do it right. Most of the time, (assuming there's been no laminitis) Xrays
are taken to see
if there's alot of extra toe out there.. but I had an experienced farrier set
the shoes too far back on one of my horses one time, and the horse couldn't
walk out into the yard after he was finished. The horse had to have a month
off, took 2 months to straighten out.

Maybe you should go over to horseshoes.com, and ask if there's a farrier in
your area, that has worked from xrays before.

I do have one friend who got x-rays and then the put shoes on her horse.
She's a vet, and the vet who did the x-rays supervised the shoeing. They
really screwed him up. :-P I want to do this right. Farriers...do they
help you any?
