HHHHHHmmmm I have my first gelding.... he was late
being gelded. Probably has never had this done. Do you watch the
urine stream to determine if it needs to be done? Use KY jelly? Does
the horse mind it being done????
It's an accumulation of smegma in the
little pouch right at the tip of the peenie.
The size and color will be
dependant on how long the stuffs been in there, and the size of the pouch
itself is individual -
The color can range from a cream color, to grey
to brown, and the consistancy from gooey to extremely hard.
My Vet told
me if the pee stream is comming out looking like a spray (as it comes out)
then the horse may have a bean interferring (or inhibiting) the pee
stream.
It's also an individual thing on how much smegma a horse
makes. I've had horses where I had to remove one twice a year, and
others only about every 2 or 3 years - and one horse that I never had too
(becuase of his
anatomy).
