I think your desk calendar may not have known about
Mounted Cowboy Shooting. That is a newer sport in this area at least, and
growing quickly.
Now before you get all excited and get your hopes
up, you don't actually get to shoot mounted cowboys. Sure they can be
obnoxious at times, and most of us have probably been tempted a time or two, but
this sport doesn't involve shooting at them. For goodness sake's if it did,
people might miss and hit a horse!
Mounted Cowboy Shooting involves a
rider blasting away with two western style six shooters while riding
between two rows of ballons on poles and trying to hit them all in as a
fast a time as possible. They use a very fine shot, (like rock
salt?) It is usually held indoors in an
arena, and is very noisy. The competitors seem to enjoy it, and the spectators
seem to have fun too.
So endurance riding may not be the newest
equestrian sport, but it probably is still the worst spectator sport in the
world.
