I agree completely. Isn't part of the challenge knowing your
horse's fitness level enough to try a longer distance when both of you are
ready? If we remove the challenge then an endurance ride will become just
another organized trail ride, count me out.
Sorry, I don't agree with this concept at all. You pay
your money and take your chances, and if you don't finish the first time,
you try again. Ride the way described below, and what is the purpose
of making any further attempts at reaching the goal, if the ride is always
awarded for the miles finished. If AERC adopts this policy, I'm
going to terminate my membership.

========================================== > AERC should award
completions of miles completed even though the 50 was entered and only 25
got done. Aerc should award completions of miles completed even though 100
was entered and only 50 or 75 got done. Of course, the horse has to be fit
to continue at ALL times. Then, all riders paying ride management dollars
to ride the ride, will be successful in their attempt at their chosen
distance. There are no losers and everyone has a successful measurable
outcome. Drive home with credited miles rode and feeling more tolerable of
the $$$$paid to get there.
