RE: [RC] good rides ever organized by amateurs? - heidiIs it possible for an amateur to organize a successful ride? I'm curious because I suddenly have access to a large private property that would be perfect for a hundred-mile ride, possibly even a single loop 100-miler. I can't really imagine pulling it off myself, but perhaps there's an experienced someone in Southern Washington or central Oregon who would be interested in adding a ride to the region's calendar. Thoughts? Yep, most AERC rides are put on by "amateurs." One does gain some experience over the years that makes it easier, but every RM took the plunge at some point and tackled their first one. I'd suggest asking NW regional sanctioning director Gail Williams to link you up with an RM in your area to help "mentor" you in your first attempt, and then go for it! You'll feel a bit overwhelmed and exhausted after your first effort, just like your first time riding one--but it is a lot of fun.
