Clinics like the one written up in EN mid-last-year. 2. A mentor-buddy-sponsor system, where for your 1st 100 you are guaranteed having someone to ride with. 3. Shorter rides that include a couple of hours in the dark. That's the part that offputs me the most, b/c I don't see well in dark and don't know how to trust my horse. And like with sailing, practice night rides can desensitize the vestibular mechanism that causes motion sickness. 3. No de-elevators. They seem inimical to developing the physical strength and mental attitude needed for a 100. It seems to me that you can't play mind games if you're going to do a 100. You have to keep your eye on the donut, not on the (loop)hole. Beverley...who claimed she would NEVER do a 100 and now says, Never say never. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
