[RC] Sad story - to Keith - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Virginia Goodman TheOdysseyFarm@xxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Hi Keith, sorry you got such a rough reception here. I haven't visited this site in awhile, and I guess this thread gives a good example why. Your horses are beautiful. I used to ride a Walker, he was too much horse for me but they are fast and strong. Endurance is a great sport, but you'll see all kinds here. Some of the people can get a little rough. I'll give you an example. This past spring I entered my pony (foolishly, in hindsight) at the Sheltowee ride at Cave Run. For a variety of reasons which I won't go into here, I decided that this was not his day (or mine, for that matter), so I cut trail and went back to camp. He was fine, I was fine, I just didn't want to go on with him. I was greeted with slack-jawed amazement, and when one of the other riders came in, she looked me in the eye and called me a quitter. So there you have it. You're either a quitter or you're running your horse into the ground. :) Don't go away, they're not all like that, from either spectrum. The hours you spend bonding with your horse will more than make up for a sometimes cool reception. But a tough hide also helps. :)) We all can learn from each other, that's the beauty of riding. The more we learn, the less we know. Come ride the Daniel Boone forest. It's beautiful.
