[RC] A HAPPY HORSE STORY FOR RIDE CAMPERS - Judie Ricci

Hi ,  lets talk about RIDING HORSES,      I have been hitting the delete button so much on this site lately,   I dont have much "sit at the computer " time and only keep R.C. for educational purposes,  hasnt been much,    other than building the 100 mile horse, not enough of that ,  Stagg,  maybe you can add some of your wisdom,  you are my mentor.   .................................  So,   back to reality and endurance riding and horsey stuff,  here is what we are doing,

I am starting 3 of our comming 4 y. olds and one for some one else.  Plus keeping our 3 going horses in shape, and working part time,    The weather has been surprisingly good for N.VA.   I have done lots of round pen work with all the babies and now have them all under saddle.   Petes Asgaurd baby is brilliant.  He is doing all the moves he learned in ground work under saddle,  he side passes, disengages his front end, and hind,  backs nice and soft,  is brave on the trails,   Lots of fun,  My Kieger mustang is going to do some rides this season, he will be 5 in June.  He is still short, but is one of those horses like Jody was talking about,  all heart,    he was very difficult  when I got him,  spoiled to the point of rearing and running at you on line and when working in the round pen,  now he is very well mannered,  adores me , ( he ignores Pete completely )  and I hope he likes endurance.  He is a lot of fun to ride.  The other young horse is a huge coming 4 yr old.  15.3 honest!!   He has been so scared of everything on earth,  it has taken a long time to get his trust,  he is going nicely under saddle now, he is built for endurance,  long legs, flat back, huge stride ,ahh  all the good stuff,  now to see how he handles the trails.  So  go ride,  smell the sweat , check the heart rates, get off and run with your horse, buy new sponges,  clean saddles,  knock down the cobwebs in the barn,  plan your ride season , BE HAPPY and quit snarling,   Gidde Up .........................Judie and Pete
