Re: [RC] AHA CTR Needs Your Help Today! - SandyDSA
I BELIEVE this is also what is happening in endurance. Having haled from
the show ring where we spend a couple of decades (before the Arabians who could
actually do well had to look like giraffes), we exited that venue primarily
because of the rampant abuse of the horses and the general idiocy of having
judges and trainers judging each other every other weekend....somewhere.
In the general scheme of things, we don't really care what they do because
we don't waste our money on sweepstakes anyway. In over 30 YEARS with Arabians,
I have never met anyone who has won anywhere near the money to recoup their
costs - not even close. Apparently, it IS worth the cost, abuse, and general
drivel to win a regional or national something or other from time to time. I am
not sure I understand exactly what AHA is trying to accomplish by crow-barring
their way into the distance sports, but I am trying to sort it out, mainly
because I think it is a potential problem and a risk to our horses to have the
very agency who thinks halter is a performance class - conducting anything
to do with our rides.
I disagree on one thing - I think this is the perfect venue to bring this
into the open, because many riders do not have to do with AHA except on the
occasion when they buy and have to transfer a new horse. So...for all of us who
do not WANT the Miss America Pageant running the Olympics, can someone who has a
better take on the ramifications of this from a working standpoint please
enlighten the rest of us? I just picture one of the Boggs boys bringing one of
their hothouse plants to a ride and showing for BC - uh huh! All greased up and
standing stretched!LOL!
