RE: [RC] [RC] Trainers for Horses vs for People - Juli JakubRay,You made me laugh!! I have met GaWaNi...what a business man! Half his business I think is from women wanting to be in the round pen with him...to heck with the horse!! But one thing I like about him....when someone asked him a question on how to fix something he told them to go spend time with their horse and the horse would tell them...imagine getting paid to tell someone to go home and actually do their homework!! He is a very nice guy though and although I am not a fan of any particular clinicians ( although I try to learn from anyone I come into contact with) I like his approach that people just need to listen and spend the time with their horse if they want a good relationship with it....going to the boarding barn and riding an hour twice a week ain't gonna do it...I have to agree with him on that. He also never tried to sell me anything...I asked him about rope halters and he told me if I wanted to go ahead and buy one but whatever halter I had was probably fine...he reiterated that it is not the gear, but the time spent...but the more he says these things the more ladies sigh and buy everything he offers...gotta love the horse industry. ( I did not buy anything by the way...good looks don't sell halters for me anyway!) But he is a great business man and has alot more money then me!! In defense of clinic goers however I think many of them are not looking to have their horses amount to anything...they just want to improve the relationship so they can have more fun with less fear/anxiety. I cannot knock people for that and although I use my own methods ( from a classical background) mixed with things I have learned from others ( thank you ridecamp and all you wonderful horse trainers out there), if Parelli, Pony Boy, Lyons, or someone else works for you and helps you with your horse....go for it. I have met lots of horses that are ill behaved from all sorts of programs...I do not think it is the clinicians programs neccesarily. It is the lack of empathy in owners so they don't realize if a program isn't working for their horse or it is programs not being applied properly for whatever reason. I believe that not all systems work with all horses! Treat the horse as a individual, but if you have the money and Parelli or the others are getting results for you and your horse I have no problem with that.

Juli Jakub

The Air of Heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.

~ arabian proverb

From: Ridecamp Guest <guest-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [RC] Trainers for Horses vs for People Date: Thu, 11 May 2006 19:39:13 GMT =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
