[RC] RC:Thoughts On WEC 2008 - Nik Isahak AbdullahSteph,Thanks for a very well balanced and fair article on the state of endurance in Malaysia and your comment on WEC 2008.From our standpoint FEI's choice of Terengganu as the future venue for WEC 2008 is an apt and wise one.It is like bringing back endurance to it's real meaning.Yes I do agree endurance here really saps both rider and his equine partner,physically and mentally.It is not one that can be all over in 8 hours flat otherwise we will have to serve you guys barbecued horsemeat for the post dinner ride!!It does not favour the multi million euro just newly acquired Bowman or Nelson or Arrazi ,nor the latest technique in interval training and how to get a fast fast horse out of our equine friends.Endurance in Malaysia requires mental and physical toughness of the first kind in both rider and horse.It is a more level playing field for every country participating. This could well be America's year of getting back into contention after almost a decade of being considered by many in the FEI sport as yesterday's man,'outmoded' and "outdated" for reasons best already known to you.Mark my words.
