Re: [RC] was Legend and Adequan, now RVI - Sharon LevasseurSeveral people have replied privately asking for prices and sources, so I will respond to the group. My vet is charging me $110 for a 12mL vial, and that will cover the first 6 doses. You can get it for $93 from www.farmvet.com but you need a prescription anyway, and there are some heavy shipping charges. It would have been over $20 to ship to my area. The concensus among the four vets on Zephyr's case is that he should only need the first 6 doses to resolve this particular issue. They hope that I won't need to give it on a regular basis, but if I do, it should be a one-dose-a-month thing. It might not help at all, but if it doesn't help it certainly won't hurt. -Sharon L. www.zegifts.com Quoting ll cole <bluemoonfarm90@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Absolutely!!! After reading the links it almost sounds too good to be true. What does it cost per dose or per vial? I would be interested in finding out what these treatments are as compared to RVI (Rubeola Virus Immunomodulator) which I just ordered for my horse. http://www.eudaemonic.net/agentfor.htm Legend and Adequan focus on the joints, I take it? RVI seems to be focused on the muscles and the connective tissues around the joints. It too aids in healing / repairing / detoxifying without masking pain... apparently it does so by somehow boosting the immune system to better fight inflammation. It's QUITE common on the Standardbred tracks around here, the vets I've spoken to have had awesome results with it. I'm trying it to help Zephyr with a chronic muscle soreness that seems to come and go in his right front leg, and which has not responded well to massage or acupuncture. If the group has any interest in my one-rat study, I will post the findings. -Sharon L. www.zegifts.com Quoting Barb Peck :Although I prefer the lighter muscled longer distance-abled horses- several years ago I ended up with a 1300 lb QH. This guy had alot of strikes against him from the get-go. But I'll make a very long story short about him and our use ofusing Legend(IV hyalauronic acid (HA)) and Adequan ( IM PSGAGS) because he was such a perfect test case. My vet and I experimented with him first using one or the other - then both together first to alleviate symptoms - then to prevent(or keepstable) then as maintenance when he was retired. This is a horse where I could see (and feel riding) a more fluidmovement 24hrs after an injection of either WHen the injectios were not continued - I could feel and see aslightdownward trend (this included length and fluidity of stride- andpresence (ornot) of throro pin in the hock, with the improvements pretty muchbeing overin about 6 months.. Don (my Vet) and I decided on using both Legend and Adequantogether and theresults were very very good, and they lasted alot longer (thru thewholeseason). These injections aren't cheap ($80.00 each) though. Whether these substances are truly legal for competition is forothers todecide ( I know an east coast rider, who's horses get injections ofLegendmonthly) - but I don't have a problem with either of these substances becausethey donot "mask" an exisiting problem- we're taking supplying the rightmaterialsfor a body to heal/repair. - and incidentally - HA is now FDA approved for humans and I'vetalked to afew people who avoided pretty serious knee operations by beinginjected &they said the results were amazing. Are these two substances banned in Endurance? Barb=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
