Re: [RC] Cushing's - Amy TetervinHi-Sadly, I have done research on this because my Morab mare developed Cushings at age 12. According to the literature, easy-keeper breeds, especially Morgans, have a susceptibility to Cushings. That also includes Arabians.Don't know if other horses in my mare's family have developed Cushings at a young age. But remember, many many horses get Cushings eventually, no matter what breed they are. And no one knows how or why it starts, but it is caused by a pituitary tumor which messes up the metabolic hormones and is often connected with insulin resistance. -Amy in VA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
