I've been riding with prescription glasses since I
was a kid. Some 35+ years now. Used contacts some as a teen, but went back to
glasses. When I choose a frame, I look for one that hooks a tad further around
my ears to hold them really steady, and a stronger frame. No "frameless" with
just the little wire under the bottom to hold the lens in. My sunglasses are a
nice sturdy pair, with plastic frames, but fashionable enough. (face it, how
much of a fashion statement must we make while trail
riding????) I have never parted ways with my glasses while
riding. Even taking some pretty bad falls over the years. Have actually never
broke a pair either, even having a horse whack me in the face with their
head. But you must find a pair that fits well. I also found the
straps on my helmet help keep the glasses even more secure and tight against my
temples and behind my ears.
My hubby has taken to wearing a pair of clear
safety glasses when we ride at night, for eye protection from branches. I
have never thought of riding with glasses as a danger. You just have to choose
the right ones.
