RE: [RC] Drafting - any gain? - heidi

And sometimes the rider needs that, too!  I can remember feeling like utter crap at the HOTR ride a few years ago, and "drafting" off of Paul on the last loop just to get my OWN body through it...  :-)   (Thanks again, Paul!  But then, maybe my horse helped to motivate yours... <g>)

Motivation.

At least that is my horse's need and benefit.  He is pretty lazy  
otherwise. When we first started this sport, my horse spent a month  
with Bill Basham, a trainer that Steph uses for her endurance  
horses.  Bill thought my horse would never make it in distance  
riding, because the horse was so lazy on the trail by himself.

Almost 1000 competitive miles (555 endurance miles) later and  
counting, he goes like the devil when around other endurance horses.  
WITH the caveat that I  have to be more mindful of the signs of  
fatigue.  He would wear himself out, if I let him.
