Re: [RC] Securing Horses... - Barbara McCrary

Our trailer is a livestock trailer with solid bottom and open slatted top, so we have four homemade, specially constructed hooks that hang on the slats and are wide enough at the lower end to accommodate two fence panels each. Then, on the wheel wells, Lud attached a couple of homemade brackets to hold the panels in place. They hang from the upper brackets and are nestled in the lower ones. To minimize bounce and noise, he snubs with rubber snubbers. Oh, yes, he also reconfigured the bottoms of the panels to fit over the wheel wells. Very handy fellow is Lud.

I have these kind of panels available (our round pen is made of them), and I've seriously thought of taking them to rides -- particularly as a secondary barrier around a tied stallion (for his safety if other horses get loose!). I can just barely manage to move them around by myself. But, I can't figure out how to get them to the ride. I'm guessing you've welded some sort of rack on the side of the trailer?? But it seems like the wheel wells would be in the way, even with my 4-horse, since these type of panels are constructed quite differently from the portable temporary types.
