Micki, Soft air gun? There is no such thing. Every year parents buy air guns and BB guns for their kids. Not a real gun just a toy. Then something horrible happens. A pellet or a BB from a toy hits a child between the ribs and penetrates. Once through the skin, lung tissue has little stopping power. Ever year one or two kids die with one small hole in their chest and bleed out through their lungs. The parents are in shock. It was just a toy. Pellet and BB gun have their purpose, shooting cans and targets. If someone wants to legally carry a gun. I'll never tell them not to. But an air gun will do one of two things. It won't be enough when you need it or it will do more harm than you want. The sad part is it will seldom do the right thing.
