Re: [RC] Dog attacks while riding - Tiffany D'VirgilioI get attacked more often then I'd like. Mosh even had a weimeriner (sp) hang from her tail once. I have trained both my horse to attack dogs on command. I notice that every bada** dog is really a chicken. I ALWAYS face the dog as soon as I notice it threatening. If the dog keeps coming, I ask her to get him and she'll snake out her neck and charge the dog. I have never had a dog NOT run after two steps toward them on a pissed off horse. If I am on foot, I use my reins like a leadrope and twirl one end. It makes a great self defense tool as you can really get a good whap in if your have to. The most important thing is to face your attacker, do not run away. If you simply even ride toward the dog and keep going toward him, he will run off before letting you run over him. Never be afraid, you are on the bigger animal and the horse AND the dog know that too.
