RE: [RC] Need advice on trailer hitch - Jim Holland

Hmmm...I would suggest you take it to a repair place....soon. This probably
means that when you get "load" on the gear train, it's binding. If you let
it go, pretty soon you will either shear a pin or a gear, and your crank
will be freewheeling...no lift at all. You need to have it checked for
lubrication and maybe rebuilt ASAP.

Several years ago, the one on my trailer was getting increasingly hard to
crank. I wanted to go to Old Dominion and didn't have time to get it looked
at. Fortunately, I hedged my bet and took along my floor jack and some 4x6
blocks. When I got ready to hook up to leave, nothing....nada...without my
floor jack I would have been in deep yogurt.

Subject: [RC] Need advice on trailer hitch

Hi everyone!
Thought with all the collective experience and
know-how everyone has, you may be able to answer my
question.
My gooseneck hitch is SO hard to crank. Easy for the
first 10-12 turns, then almost imposiible.
What should I do to make it easier? Is there some
trick to it?
Any suggestions and/or ideas are greatly
appreciated!!!
Thanks,
Tracy Blue
