Re: [RC] [RC] question on choosing a halter/bridle combo - Jonni

I don't like the snap on bit hangers. Tougher to get the bit in just the right position and height that I like in their mouth as to a separate headstall, which I find just hangs nicer. Also, the separate headstall makes taking it on and off a tad quicker. No need to snap anything, just put on and off like regular bridles, and I hang it over my shoulder. Reins snapped on halter for lead.

Here is a photo of one that Animal Tacker made. It has a tab at the poll, that connects the halter to bridle, to prevent the bridle from coming off with a head shake or rub. I have been very happy with this design.

Canadian Tack will be making my next one, as I decided I needed a second. She will make the halter too:

I prefer the beta biothane, as it is softer, and has a nice feel, and not as stiff as regular biothane. I also prefer stainless, as it is stronger than brass, and will not leave green smudges on a grey horse. LOL

Go to a ride and look at a few, and ask folks of you could see how easy it is to bridle and unbridle with the bit hangers. Some folks love them. Not all tack is "right" for every person and horse, thus so many choices!
